Your Department Needs Your Help

Have you ever wondered how a National Convention works in the background?  Here is your chance to find out!  Volunteer to assist in any of the many different areas!

Drivers -

Registration -

  • The Department is looking for assistance with the Membership Department at the National Convention.  If you have some free hours July 18– July 23, come out and help greet and meet all of the attendees to the convention.

Sign Placement -

  • Point of Contact:  State Commander Tony Yarbrough -
  • Set up signs and American Flag required each day for all meetings. ALL SIGNS FLAGS MUST BE IN PLACE ONE (1) HOUR PRIOR TO MEETINGS.  The convention office will provide the Chairmen an agenda, with location and meeting times, (2) weeks prior to National Convention outlining locations for flags and signs.
  • Requires seven (7) volunteers to set state signs for Business Session Monday during lunch break. The Patriotic Celebration is held inside the convention center on Tuesday afternoon. The signs are then removed at the end of Tuesday's business session to make way for the set-up of that event on Tuesday evening. Signs are put up again on either Tuesday after the Patriotic event or Wednesday morning prior to the business session. Staff members from national will have reports used to place signs within the hall according to membership ranking. Masking tape/labels are used to note the location of the department signs on first day (on floor) for ease in resetting the signs. Black marker will be used on these identifying labels.

Hospitality Suite:

  • Point of Contact:  State Senior Vice Commander Butch Beltran -
  • I know some of you have been advised that I have been appointed the Hospitality Chairman for the Nevada Hospitality Room and the Patriotic Rally.  We still are in need of funds to pay for the Suite and the food and beverages.   I know it is getting late and I have one more meeting in Reno to finalize our Suite.  Please make your post donations for the Hospitality Room to the VFW Department of Nevada.  Mark on the checks Hospitality Room NV.  Thank you all in advance for your assistance with this program.  As we are the Host State let’s make our Hospitality Room the Best in the Country.
